"The provision is outstanding.  The senior leadership team are highly effective and they have an excellent understanding of their roles and responsibilities. There is an exceptionally effective management structure that enables the whole team to drive consistent and continual improvement.  Relationships are strong, and children make secure bonds.  Parents have high levels of confidence in the staff and know what their children are learning is supporting their next stage of development.  Staff use carefully worded questions to probe children's knowledge.  Senior leaders and staff work collaboratively with external agencies to aid early identification and timely intervention for vulnerable children and children in need, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities."

"Many parents and carers and staff describe Aughton Early Years Centre as a lovely place to be and we agree. Leaders and staff take the greatest care to welcome, value and support every child and family.  The whole staff team has created a purposeful, enticing and safe place for children to learn about the world around them. Skilled, well trained staff members give children opportunities to explore and learn new things across a wide, knowledge based curriculum. Books, stories and rhymes are treasured every step of the way."

"The sharply focused senior leadership team provide a clear and ambitious direction for sustained development. They are supported by the well-qualified staff who positively contribute to improvements to all aspects of the provision.  Staff create a warm and attractive environment where babies and children learn to explore the world around in security and with confidence.  Staff make good use of the close links with other early years providers, particularly those within the centre, to develop their provision and to support children's smooth transition to the next stage of their education."

"Staff are kind, dedicated and nurturing. They care well for children, so children feel safe and happy in the centre. Consequently, the centre is calm and secure.  Staff successfully promote children’s personal, social and emotional development, helping them to develop strong relationships with adults and their peers.  Parents are very positive about the centre. Of those who gave their views, all would recommend it to others.  Leaders have ensured provision for children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities is successfully meeting their needs. Staff work effectively with external agencies to secure the right support for these children and their families."

Ofsted Good Practice Example "Maximising the use of the outdoor environment" - July 2011

Children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) benefit from spending a lot of time learning through playing outside, whatever the weather. This makes a significant contribution to the excellent progress they make, particularly in their personal, social, emotional and physical development as well as their communication skills."

These ensure that all children make excellent progress, including any children who are at risk of not achieving as well as others. Many of the children leave for local primary schools working at levels of development that are above those expected for children of their age and with excellent social skills and attitudes to learning.”
