Meals & Healthy Foundations
Mealtimes at the Centre
Eating together in small groups and being encourged to try a range of foods is an essential part of the children's learning here at the Centre. It is integral to their personal, social and emotional development as they; take turns to speak and listen to each other, practice table manners, and learn to be patient whilst waiting for their meal. An adult at each table models high quality social interactions and support the children progressively through the Centre to become independent in serving themselves food and drinks.
We feel very fortunate to have a cook onsite full-time which means food is freshly prepared in our kitchen everyday. Children enjoy a healthy breakfast, lunch, tea and snacks on a daily basis. Breakfast options are cereal with milk or toast & butter and a drink of water, milk or fresh orange or apple juice. A hot meal is offered just before midday and a light meal is provided for children who are with us until 5.45pm.
Healthy Foundations
We recognise the importance of children eating healthily as part of a daily balanced diet and worked hard to ensure this within the Centre. We have the Bronze, Silver and Gold Healthy Foundations awards and strive to maintain this high standard.
