Governing Board
The Centre has a Full Governing Board which helps with the running of the Centre and which meets regularly to discuss Centre issues. The Governing Board consists of representatives of the Centre, parents and the local community.

I worked in further education in Rotherham for 29 years as a Lecturer Manager and Director with responsibility for early years, childcare and education. I am proud to have played a part in training the many excellent Early Years Practitioners who have worked or are still working in the Centre and feel privileged to work with the team at Aughton EYC.

Sally Margetts
Vice Chair of Governors
I have been a Governor at Aughton Early Years since January 2016 and I thoroughly enjoy being part of the team and being involved in the excellent work that the staff at centre do.
I live locally with my husband and 3 children, all of which have attended the centre from being babies through to leaving to go to school. They all flourished and adored their time at Aughton, my 12 year old still talks about some of the staff even now!
It is a privilege to be part of the Governing Board at Aughton Early Years.

Andrea Smith
Head Teacher/Head of Centre
I was privileged to be asked to serve as a Centre governor when I was appointed as Deputy Head Teacher, and then subsequently as Head Teacher. I am now enjoying my 22nd year of teaching here at the Centre. I am married and have lived in Kimberworth with my husband for 38 years, and we have a son and a daughter and two grandsons. I spent a great deal of my own childhood in Aughton as my grandparents and other extended family lived in Aston, Aughton and Beighton. I can even remember collecting my cousin from the nursery some fifty years ago with my grandmother - so I am very much at home here!

Gail Napper
Deputy Head of Centre
I have worked at Aughton Early Years Centre for over 30 years. I started at the Nursery here as a student in 1984 and have watched the Centre grow and develop alongside my career.
I feel passionately about delivering the best possible services and support we can to the families in our extensive reach area.
I am the designated person for safeguarding and keep the staff at the centre and at some of the local primary schools up to date on safeguarding issues.
I am married and have 2 children who also attended the Centre and went on to attend Aston CofE School and Aston Academy before venturing on to further education.

Bernadette Bartholomew
Co-opted Governor
I am married with three children and eight grandchildren, four of who attended Aughton Early Years Centre. I have been Chair and Vice Chair of Governors at Aughton for 15 years and now I am a Co-opted Local Authority Governor.
I live locally and my three children went to Aughton Nursery 33 years ago. I am also a parish councillor and work very closely with the local community.
I am proud to be part of the Governing Board at Aughton Early Years Centre.

Jamie Wilson
Co-opted Governor
I was originally a Parent Governor appointed in 2011 and am now a Co-Opted Governor at Aughton Early Years. I've had many years supporting the centre in different ways - from IT support to parent and now a Governor. I have two children who both started at around 7 months old and have moved through the Centre bases and enjoyed every minute.
I'm very proud to be part of the Aughton Early Years family and to play a small part in its achievements.

My career at Aughton Early Years started over 20 years ago as a child support assistant looking after children with additional needs. I progressed to be a Senior Early Years Practitioner and have worked within all bases at the Centre. In 2009 I moved into the family support team and became a local community outreach worker for new families living in and around our local catchment area. I really enjoy my role engaging with families early in their childs care and learning. I am really proud to be part of Aughton Early Years and believe with my dedication and experience I can be of benefit to the board of governors. I will relish this opportunity and I look forward to contributing to the ongoing success of the Centre.

Yasir Muneer
Parent Governor
I have my first child who has just started the Pre-school room and seems to be enjoying it.
I am currently working for the NHS Mental Health Trust as a Programme Lead. Previously to this I have worked as a teacher for ten years in a range of age groups. I am passionate about the education and care our children receive and making sure the environment is welcoming and positive for all.
My current hobby seems to be running after my daughter and answering what and why questions.
I look forward to working with the governors to keep up the standards that we all strive for, for all our children.

I have previously been a school governor at Aston Hall School, I was Chair of Governors and was involved in appointing a Head Teacher along with other staff. I was also Chair of Trustees at AGE UK Rotherham.
I served on Aston-cum-Aughton Parish Council for over 36 years. I have lived in the Parish for over 50 years, and have always been aware of the excellent reputation of Aughton Early Years Centre and it is an honour to serve on the Governing Body. I feel I have the relevant skills and experience to make a contribution to the ongoing work and service provided to the community.

Joseph Lee
Parent Governor
I am a parent to two daughters, one of whom has already benefitted from the nbuturing and enriching environment at Aughton Early Years Centre, and another who has just begun her journey there. As such, I have a strong personal connection to the Centre and a deep appreciation of the role it plays in our children's development. Professionally, I am a Lecturer in Operating Department Practice at Sheffield Hallam University and a registered healthcare professional with HCPC. I am a passionate advocate for health, wellbeing, and inclusion across our local community. I firmly believe that every child and family should feel supported, valued, and empowered from the very beginning of their educational journey. Outside of work, I actively fundraise for The Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity, completing a personal challenge of running a marathon each month in 2024 to support this vital cause. This reflects my commitment, drive, and belief in supporting services that give children the best start in life. I am honoured to contribute to the continued success of Aughton Early Years as a Parent Governor.

Clerk to Governors
I'm thrilled to be part of the fantastic team here at Aughton Early Years Centre.
I joined the AEYC family as an Administrative Officer in September 2023 and I've loved every minute of being here since. I stepped in to the role of Clerk to Governors last year, supporting our Governing Board has been extremely rewarding and I look forward to contributing to the Centre's continued success.
