Remembrance Day

Staff and children were joined by members of the local parish council and the community at our annual remembrance service on Monday 11th November. The children watched the laying of the wreaths, listened to the Last Post being played, and observed the two minutes silence. Prior to this the children had been learning about why we buy poppies at this time of year, looking at medals, uniforms and other memorabilia brought in by members of staff whose family had served in the armed forces.

Operation Christmas Child

Thank you to all who donated to our shoebox appeal.

We sent 33 boxes.

Thank You!

A huge thank you to Laurence Ross, one of our supportive dad's, who has kindly made a beautiful wooden mount for our new 'Welcome To Our Garden' plaque.  The children are thoroughly enjoying chatting about the images and pointing out the words on the sign.

Avant Homes - 'Day to Make a Difference'

June 2019

Avant Homes, who are at present building on ‘The Waverley’, which of course is in our Children’s Centre reach area, kindly included us in their ‘Day to Make a Difference’ on the Wednesday 12th June. Five employees from Avant and two from IPW Building Services came to the Centre to carry out joinery and garden work free of charge as part of their investment and commitment to the community. Some of the work included; building new shelving in the 0-2/Pre-school outdoor area, putting up new bamboo screening, making benches, replacing wood on some of our play equipment, and installing a new bubble tube in the sensory room. We are extremely grateful and would like to thank, Mark, Andy, Dean, Ryan, Adam, Dave and Mick for their hard work in the heavy rain – we began to wonder if they might be better building a boat!

"A Huge Thank You"

To Lawrence Ross (Isabelle Ross’s dad in the 2-3 room) and Dave Billard (Lucy Billard’s dad in FS1) and her two brothers Joe and Sam, for their tremendous work on Saturday in our garden. Lawrence built some super wooden shelves to create a mathematics and literacy shed, and Dave, Sam and Joe cleared shrubs, trees and bushes. This support has been invaluable in order for us to continue to develop areas of learning outdoors and we are very grateful.’

World Book Day

March 2019

The children really enjoyed attending the Centre dressed as their favourite story character for World Book Day. It was lovely to see them in their different costumes and finding out why the character they'd chosen was their favourite. They were excited to talk to each other about what they were wearing, and to play in role as their character.

Rotherham and Sheffield Sight and Sound

On Monday 25th February we were pleased to welcome representatives from Rotherham and Sheffield Sight and Sound, a local sight and hearing loss charity. The children met one of the volunteers and also got to meet her lovely guide dog called Hannah.

The children learned about how important it is to keep their eyes healthy and also about how people with a sight or hearing impairment can be supported.

Parents and carers could chat to the representatives about the service, what support, help and equipment is on offer for people who have an impairment, and also meet the volunteer and her guide dog.

It was a very successful and beneficial morning.

A fond farewell to all our children who are moving on to their next stage of education.

Many thanks for all your cards, gifts and well wishes, from the staff and governors at the Centre
