Thank You!

A huge thank you to Laurence Ross, one of our supportive dad's, who has kindly made a beautiful wooden mount for our new 'Welcome To Our Garden' plaque.  The children are thoroughly enjoying chatting about the images and pointing out the words on the sign.

The soft surface area has now been completed around the look out tower and the new balance beem and stepping logs have been installed.  The children have been busy exploring the dens and the fairy doors in the woodland area.

We are pleased to say that we have a lovely new outdoor sand area. We are just awaiting a cover for the sand whilst not in use, and a shade sail to protect the children during hot weather. The soft surfacing will be completed over the next couple of weeks. In addition, we have just had a new fence around the 2-3 room outdoor area.

"A Huge Thank You"

To Lawrence Ross (Isabelle Ross’s dad in the 2-3 room) and Dave Billard (Lucy Billard’s dad in FS1) and her two brothers Joe and Sam, for their tremendous work on Saturday in our garden. Lawrence built some super wooden shelves to create a mathematics and literacy shed, and Dave, Sam and Joe cleared shrubs, trees and bushes. This support has been invaluable in order for us to continue to develop areas of learning outdoors and we are very grateful.’

Garden Development

The children are thoroughly enjoying using the new resources and equipment. They are challenging themselves physically and understanding the need for safety, playing cooperatively, using their imagination to develop storylines/play in role as a favourite character. They are exploring the natural environment, and using a wealth of mathematical language.

The work in our garden is nearly complete. We thank Greenfield Leisure from Wath who were contracted to build the look-out tower, clamber stack, shelter, clatter bridge, train and pebble pit. We would also like to thank T. Greenworks Ltd from Chesterfield who are currently working on the Waverley Housing Development which of course is in our reach area, for kindly preparing the ground for the clamber stack free of charge. We would also like to give a huge thank you to Aston-cum-Aughton Parish Council who kindly paid for the lovely oak train also made and installed by Greenfield Leisure. There is still the grassed area around the look-out tower which we would like soft surfacing and the sand area to be developed at a later date.
