Autumn Term in the 0 - 2 Room

We would like to share wiht you some of the things we are going to be focusing on this half-term in the 0-2 room. In addition to taking account of children's interests, we will be continually planning for their next steps through some of the activities below:

  • Establishing secure relationships between the children and staff to ensure the children feel happy and safe to explore the room
  • Exploring Autumn - encouraging children's confidence to explore their natural world with key staff members. Staff will be encouraging children to use key vocabulary linked to the season and encouraging children, where appropriate, to repeat this language.
  • Reading spine - Key text - 'Where's Spot?'. We will be linking this story to different activities in many areas of the provision to support retelling of the story.
  • Songs and Rhymes - We will be singing lots of familiar rhymes to support children's development in Communiation and Language, with a particular focus on 'Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star'  and 'Baa Baa Black Sheep'.

Throughout this half term, we will also be supporting children to establish daily routines, for example, identifying their peg to find their coat, washing hands in anticipation of snack/lunch/tea, sitting for meals and having their nappy changed.
